Parsippany-Troy Hills Township, commonly called Parsippany, is located in Morris County, NJ. The community has a total area of 25.4 square miles and has approximately 20,000 housing units. The name Parsippany comes from the Lenape Native American word Parsipanong, which means "the place where the river winds through the valley." The Township is the most populous municipality in Morris County with approximately 50,000 people. In 2006, Parsippany was recognized by Money Magazine, ranked 17th, as one of the Best Places to Live in the United States - the highest-ranked location in New Jersey!

There are several sections in Parsippany including Lake Intervale, Lake Hiawatha, Lake Parsippany, Rainbow Lakes, and Mount Tabor. Parsippany residents often have a mailing address that is different from their physical location. For example, Lake Parsippany has a Parsippany (07054) mailing address. However, homes in Lake Intervale have a Boonton (07005) mailing address; homes in Rainbow Lakes have a Denville (07834) mailing address; and homes in the southwest corner of Parsippany have a Morris Plains (07950) mailing address. The small village of Mount Tabor (07878) has its own post office, as does the community of Lake Hiawatha (07034). Housing developments and neighborhoods in Parsippany include Powder Mill, Skyview Heights, Mazdabrook Commons, and Glenmont Commons which all feature a combination of townhomes and single family homes. Commute

With excellent access to the New York metropolitan area, Parsippany has become a major employment center for New Jersey. Parsippany lies at the crossroads of many major highways including Interstate 80, 280, and 287. U.S. Route 46 and NJ Route 10 travel through the municipality. The Mount Tabor Train Station in Parsippany is located on the NJ Transit Morristown Line with direct service to Hoboken or NY Penn Station. Passengers who take the Hoboken train can switch to the PATH to reach NYC. Passengers who take the Midtown Direct train will arrive at NY Penn Station in about 70 minutes. Lakeland Bus Lines provides service from Parsippany to NY Port Authority in Midtown NYC. During rush hour, the bus ride takes about 60 minutes.

Recreation

There are a total of 31 parks located in Parsippany. The park system has preserved over 800 acres ranging from Lake Hiawatha Park to Knoll Park, which is located in the Knoll Golf Facility. Please visit the Township of Parsippany website for a listing of all the town's parks and activities.

Shopping

There is an amazing amount of nearby shopping for residents. From big chain stores in East Hanover, to small shops and boutiques in Denville and Morristown, everything you need is just a short drive away. The Rockaway Townsquare Mall is about 15 minutes away in Rockaway Township. The Willowbrook Mall is about 20 minutes away in Wayne. U.S. Route 46 travels east-west through Parsippany and features miles of retail shopping outlets and restaurants.
