Roxbury Township is located in western Morris County, NJ - about 50 miles west of NYC. The community has a total area of 21.9 square miles and has approximately 8,550 housing units. Sections include Kenvil (07847), Landing (07850), Ledgewood (07852), Berkshire Valley (07885), and Succasunna (07876). Berkshire Valley has a Wharton (07885) mailing address. Roxbury is known for its busy commercial and retail shopping district along NJ Route 10, which features the Ledgewood and Roxbury Malls. The Township's border stretches to the shores of Lake Hopatcong, which is New Jersey's largest man-made lake. Succasunna is located in a large valley and borders Mooney Mountain to the west. The Township was founded in 1740 and is rich in history.
Roxbury Township offers a variety of housing opportunities all within close proximity to public schools, shopping, and major highways. The Landing section is on scenic Lake Hopatcong. Landing neighborhoods include Port Morris, Silver Springs, Kings Cove, Kingsland, Shippenport, and Shore Hills. Landing offers cozy and more affordable homes with smaller property sizes as well as some magnificent lakefront homes. Succasunna, known for its picture-perfect flowing neighborhoods, is great for families and boasts lots of community atmosphere. To the west of Succasunna, Mooney Mountain is home to several newer housing developments as well as a few neighborhoods that were built in the 1960s and 1970s that feature more spacious property sizes. Other housing developments and neighborhoods include: Suttontown, Eyland Woods, Hillside Estates, New Sunrise, Evergreen Estates, Camelot Estates, Alexandria, Pleasant Village Estates, Kingston Court, Forest Hollow, Deer View Estates, Fairways Edge, Hilltop Estates, Lookout Mountain, Mountain Park, Poet's Peak, Meredith Farms, Hunters Ridge, and Blueberry Ridge.
Residents have easy access to Interstate 80 for an eastbound commute. The Lake Hopatcong Train Station in the Landing section of Roxbury Township is located on the NJ Transit Morristown Line which provides direct service to Hoboken Terminal. Passengers can transfer to another train in Dover for Midtown Direct service to NY Penn Station. At Hoboken Terminal, passengers can switch to the PATH to reach NYC. The NJ Transit Montclair-Boonton Line also passes through the station. Lakeland Bus Lines provides service from Landing to the NY Port Authority Terminal in Midtown. During rush hour, the bus ride takes about 75 minutes. The Mount Arlington Train Station and the Lakeland Bus Howard Blvd Park-n-Ride are located close by. Residents can also commute to central NJ via NJ Route 206 South, which is just west of Roxbury.
The Roxbury School District serves public school students in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Schools in the district consist of four elementary schools: Franklin Elementary School (K-3), Kennedy Elementary School (K-4), Jefferson Elementary School (K-5) and Nixon Elementary School (K-3). Lincoln/Roosevelt School serves grades 5 and 6, Eisenhower Middle School serves grades 7 and 8. Grades 9-12 attend Roxbury High School. Students from the neighboring town of Mt. Arlington also attend Roxbury High School.
There is an amazing about of nearby shopping for residents. Roxbury is home to the Ledgewood Mall and Roxbury Mall, along with dozens of chain stores and popular fast-food and casual-dining restaurants along Route 10. The Rockaway Townsquare Mall is about 15 minutes away in Rockaway Township and is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey. The ITC Crossing is about 10 minutes away in Mount Olive and features large national chain stores and popular restaurants.
Roxbury's Horseshoe Lake Recreational Area features swimming, picnic areas, a pavilion, playground, and sports fields for soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Roxbury has 13 parks that are beautifully maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. Roxbury also has a very active Senior and Teen Center. The Shore Hills Country Club, located in Landing, has a beach and clubhouse on Lake Hopatcong and is available to residents of the towns surrounding Lake Hopatcong for an annual fee.
