Victory Gardens Borough is located in Morris County NJ. The community has a total area of 0.2 square miles and has approximately 590 housing units. The Borough has the distinction of being the most densely populated municipality in Morris County as well as the smallest, both in size and population. The community began as a 300 unit housing development built by the federal government shortly after the US entered WWII in 1941. The development was built on a 91 acre tract in what was then a part of Randolph to provide affordable housing for the workers assigned to Picatinny Arsenal as a part of the war effort. The development was seceded from Randolph in 1951 when the area was incorporated as Victory Gardens. Most of the homes built by the federal governmnet in the 1940s still exist today. They are typically small, single family ranch homes or duplexes on tiny lots. The Borough has a Dover (07801) mailing address. Public school students attend the Dover School District.
Residents have convenient access to NJ Route 10, which connects to Interstate 287, which runs north-south through Morris County and offers easy connections to major east-west routes including Interstate 80, 280, and NJ Route 24. The train station in Dover is located nearby as well as Lakeland Bus Lines.
Victory Gardens students in public school for kindergarten through twelve grade attend the Dover School District. Schools in the district are Academy Street Elementary School (K-5), East Dover Elementary School (3-6), North Dover Elementary School (PreK-5), Dover Middle School (7-8) and Dover High School (9-12).
The community is close to both Randolph and Dover which include Heddon Park, Brundage Park, Randolph Park, Heistein Park, Crescent Field, Richards Avenue Park, and Hurd Park.
